Marcus Kartal is an independent writer/director based in London. Having never attended university and dropping out of academic studies Marcus is a Self professed "cinephile". Absorbing world cinema at a young age became it's own education. Inspired early on by the French extremity wave in the 2000's Marcus' and the photography work of Nan Goldin and Daido Moriyama, Marcus has found his niche in the artful horror of ordinary life mixed with striking visceral images of beauty and pain.

Starting his career in the film industry at the age of eighteen; working in various departments, Marcus has seen his true calling in the directors chair, self financing his early projects. Which were released on NOWNESS and celebrated on the festival circuit.

With his signature dark aesthetic and melancholy visuals, Marcus is looking for artists and brands which fit his style.

 

​Marcus is also interested in pursuing other areas of film including fashion and visual installation work for artists in the music industry and brands.

 

​Currently Marcus has finished primary filming on his next narrative film produced by Stadium Creative, under the project name 'Ultra - Pure'.
